Joe Williams

Joe Williams is pianist and composer from Tacoma, Washington (USA). He has performed in Jordan, The United Arab Emirates and Mexico. Williams' artistry is featured on Life's Sweet Shadows: Vocal Works of Richard Thompson and Arise & Shine: Piano Music by Black Composers for Kids, both released by Navona Records. He is a contributing author to The Cambridge Companion to Florence B. Price (Cambridge University Press, ed. Samantha Ege & A Kori Hill). Awards include the 2022 Paul Charosh Independent Scholar Fellowship and the 2026 Vanguard Award for Classical Innovation and Community Impact.
Williams received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Cleveland State University, where he studied keyboard wellness with Sheila Paige. He is currently a Graduate Assistant pursuing a PhD in composition at The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
