Dr. Uriel Tsachor

An internationally active soloist and chamber musician, Uriel Tsachor is a Steinway artist. A dedicated pedagogue, he teaches an internationally diverse studio at the University of Iowa, School of Music.

Since his Lincoln Center debut with the New York City Symphony, described by The New York Times as "glittering brilliance," Tsachor has been performing throughout the United States as recitalist, soloist with orchestra and chamber musician. He appeared in recitals in major venues in New York (Avery Fisher Hall), Chicago (Chicago Cultural Center), Tel-Aviv (Mann Auditorium), Brussels (Palais des Beaux Arts), Vienna (Mozart-Saal), Paris (Salle Gaveau), London (Queen Elizabeth Hall), Venice (La Fenice), Hong Kong (Cultural Center) and other major cities around the world.

Uriel Tsachor has recorded numerous programs for radio and television stations in the United States, Israel and several countries in Europe.

Winner of the Bösendorfer-Empire Concours and the Concorso Busoni, and a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, Tsachor is a graduate of the Tel-Aviv Rubin Academy and the Juilliard School where he earned his doctorate.  

Tsachor’s discography (www.urieltsachor.com) encompasses over twenty releases for the EMI, Musical Heritage Society, PHONIC, DISCOVER, DIVOX and EMS labels and includes the two piano concerti by Brahms, and solo works by Beethoven, Bartók, Schumann, Brahms Mendelssohn and Dvorák. Tsachor’s latest CD, “Brahms in Transcription” released in November 2019 by MSR Classics, includes world-premiere recordings of Brahms’ Symphony movements and Hungarian dances transcriptions by Max Reger and Theodor Kirchner. The disc was enthusiastically reviewed in numerous publications in the US and Europe. Fanfare magazine wrote: “There is beauty galore here, and Tsachor’s love of the music shines through at each and every moment.”

Swiss Radio International selected one of Tsachor’s Schumann recordings for its Exceptional Production award, sending it to over 800 radio stations worldwide. International Piano magazine in London reviewing the CD, described Tsachor as a “Master Pianist.” In another recent review of his playing the Diapason magazine in Paris described Tsachor as “a pianist of great sensitivity and perfect musicianship.”

Uriel Tsachor's chamber music discs include cello-piano sonatas by Barber, Schnittke and Britten (EMS) and violin-piano sonatas by Schumann, Reger and Strauss (OLYMPIA), and the complete violin-piano sonatas by Brahms released (CALLIOPE), all performed with violinist Andrew Hardy. The duo has also recorded for the Musique en Wallonie label a 4-CD set of the eight sonatas by various composers dedicated to Ysaÿe, the great Belgian violinist.
